Harry Lyon in Concert

Harry Lyon really needs no introduction - the last time we saw Harry was back in 2019 - and it's a real pleasure to welcome him back to VillageMusic. This time as a trio, with Tony Waine on bass & vocals and Jean McAllister on guitars, keys and vocals. This will be a special occasion for sure.
Here's the format in Harry's own words:
"In May 1966 Harry was in the 5th form at Westlake Boys High School on Auckland’s North Shore. He’d been playing guitar since he was nine and Harry’s mother thought her son was pretty good and ready to take his talent out of the bedroom. When he arrived home from school one day, she gave him an ad she tore out of the local suburban newspaper;
“Wanted: Singer guitar player for working North Shore band. 17-20 yo. Good gear and transport essential. Ph…”
A call resulted in an audition at the Northcote RSA Hall. Fifteen-year-old Harry arrived on his motor scooter, guitar tied across back with his father’s dressing gown cord. He got the gig and joined The Legends. His mother loaned him the money to buy a Jansen 6-20 amplifier (the good gear he needed) and he paid her back by pumping gas on Sundays at the local petrol station. That was the start of a 60-year career in the NZ music industry. As you can imagine, there are a few stories to tell and a lot of songs along the way. These intimate shows will feature both, up close and personal."
In 2026, after 60 years in South Pacific Rock n Roll, Harry is still in demand playing sold out shows and festivals fronting a reformed Hello Sailor.
