An increasing number of women taking up motorcycle riding in our region, and now we are bringing our motorcycle safety messages directly to them. According to ACC, the risk of death or serious injury to a motorcyclist in a crash is 21 times higher than a car driver in a similar crash.
Our first annual Porirua Women Motorcyclist Safety Event includes inspirational key speaker Kathleen Perry, a world solo motorcycle rider from Christchurch. She completed what she believes no other Kiwi woman has – a record-breaking, continuous, self-funded, solo ride around the world on one motorbike, clocking up 127,500km across six continents and 63 countries. Kathleen will speak about her journey from a motorcycle safety perspective.
The event also includes information about Ride Forever courses, the Motorcycle Collective Workshop Trailer and gear op-shop, a helmet cleaning station, free motorcycle safety gear, prizes, and a light lunch.
